Habitat

Wet areas with willows; open areas near lakes, swamps, streams or rivers; valley bottoms.

Larval Hosts

Cottonwood, Poplars, and trees in the Willow Family.

Adult Food

Aphid honeydew, carrion, dung, and decaying fungi in the spring. Nectar from small white flowers including Joe-pye Weed, goldenrod, and aster in the summer.
