Identification

The leaves are from 2 to 6 inches long. The basal lobes are short, less than half as long as the terminal lobe. The beak on the fruit is ascending to erect and is less than one-half millimeter.


Similar
Species

Broad-leaved arrowhead (Sagittaria latifolia) leaves are from 6 to 12 inches long. The basal lobes are long, half as long to as long as the terminal lobe. The beak on the fruit is spreading and is 1 to 2 millimeters.

Sessile-fruited arrowhead (Sagittaria rigida) leaves are linear or elliptical, rarely arrow-shaped.
