This out-of-the-way SNA is in the Nemadji State Forest, a victim of the Minnesota DNR’s preferential treatment of motorized outdoor activities. The only access to it is by the Gandy Dancer state ATV/OHM trail, or by canoe from Wisconsin. The GSP coordinates above are on the Gandy Dancer Trail.

It is adjacent to Wisconsin’s Black Lake Bog State Natural Area.

Special concern – gray wolf (Canis lupus)

This bog is within the territory of a pack of timber wolves (gray wolves). You may see their tracks if you visit when snow is on the ground.

Leatherleaf (Chamaedaphne calyculata) dominates the open bog area. Other plants found here include black spruce (Picea mariana), round-leaved sundew (Drosera rotundifolia), and purple pitcherplant (Sarracenia purpurea ssp. gibbosa).
