This site has been listed since 1974 on the National Register of Historic Places as William Warren Two Rivers Cabin Site; McDougall Homestead.

The southern half (215 acres) of this site was until recently owned by The Nature Conservancy and managed as MacDougall Homestead Preserve.

There is a 0.52 mile DNR Management Road beginning at the northeast parking lot that is open to foot travel. There is also 1.5 miles of hunter walking trails.

Want’s in a Name?

The Minnesota DNR has this site listed as McDougall WMA, and the nearby aquatic management area as McDougall AMA. The National Register of Historic Places also uses this spelling. The Nature Conservancy spells the name MacDougall. According to the Morrison County Historical Society, Peter and Martha MacDougall homesteaded the site 1873. The site was named by the MN DNR. Misspelled or not, the legal name is McDougall WMA.
