Daily Permit Required
Point Douglas Park consists of a narrow mowed grass strip, a swimming beach, and a large parking lot on the west (south) bank of the St. Croix River. It offers picnic tables, grills, restrooms, and a fishing pier. It is a wayside rest but also a Washington County park. “Vehicle permits are required for all vehicles entering the park.” A daily permit can be purchased from an electronic pay station in the park for $7. “On the first Tuesday of every month, visit any Washington County Park for FREE. No vehicle permit required.” The main attraction for naturalists comes in the winter, when the water often remains open. This is a good site to see wintering waterfowl.

Birds

Open water in the winter makes this a good place to check for wintering waterfowl. A Barrow’s Goldeneye was reported here in December, 2004, among a flock of Common Goldeneye.
