(Order Agaricales)
Overview • Description • Distribution • Taxonomy
Description |
Fruiting bodies (basidiocarps) of Agaricales typically are fleshy, and they have a cap (pileus), a stalk (stipe), and gills (lamellae). However, none of these characteristics are unique to Agaricales, and some Agaricales lack a well defined cap, stalk, or gills. Based on recent molecular DNA research, puffballs, false truffels, and some of the coral and club fungi, have been moved to the order Agaricales. |
