History
On 12/17/2001, a 466 acre site in Yellow Medicine County on the South Dakota border was designated as Mound Spring Prairie SNA. In 2013 the Minnesota DNR acquired a 160-acre parcel about one mile southeast of the original site. The new parcel became the South Unit of this SNA.
