Birds	Two bird species with protected status in Minnesota have been seen here: Special concern – Greater Prairie-chicken (Tympanuchus cupido), Marbled Godwit (Limosa fedoa) Large numbers of Sandhill Cranes gather here during their migration south every year.

Mammals	One mammal species with protected status in Minnesota is found here: Special concern – prairie vole (Microtus ochrogaster) Other mammals found on this site include moose (Alces alces), white-tailed jackrabbit (Lepus townsendii), whitetail deer (Odocoileus virginianus), white-footed mouse (Peromyscus leucopus), and masked shrew (Sorex cinereus).
