This SNA is bordered on the west and north by Twin Valley Prairie Preserve, a Nature Conservancy preserve, and on the east by Neal WMA. |

| Birds | Two bird species with protected status in Minnesota have been seen here: Special concern – Greater Prairie-chicken (Tympanuchus cupido), Marbled Godwit (Limosa fedoa) Other birds commonly seen on this site include Upland Sandpiper (Bartramia longicauda), Sandhill Crane (Grus canadensis), Northern Harrier (Circus cyaneus), American Kestrel (Falco sparverius), Marsh Wren (othorus palustris), Sedge Wren (Cistothorus platensis), clay-colored sparrow (Spizella pallida), Le Conte’s Sparrow (Ammodramus leconteii), Western Meadowlark (Sturnella neglecta), and Bobolink (Dolichonyx oryzivorus). Large numbers of Sandhill Cranes gather here during their migration south every year. |
