Kwispelgerst (Hordeum jubatum) is een leuk laag siergrasje dat vanaf half mei begint te bloeien. De sierlijke aren dansen in de wind of beter gezegd kwispelen. De aanvankelijk groene kafnaalden kleuren langzaan naar rood/paars en blijven vaak tot in de herfst mooi.
