Woolly-tailed marsh fly is a medium-sized hoverfly. It occurs in northern Europe, where it is common, and in western Canada, where it is less common. There are just a handful of records in the United States. It is rare in Minnesota.
Adults appears somewhat bee-like, with a longitudinally striped thorax and a horizontally banded abdomen.
